Many of us enjoy passing down childhood family traditions or sharing stories about them. A good time to start a holiday tradition is as soon as your little one is born.
Children love starting new things. Children don't have preconceived notions about proper ways to celebrate so creating new traditions are as much fun as the old ones you grew up with.
If your child is still a baby, include them in baking if this is one of your traditions. Just remember to keep them away from sharp objects and hot surfaces. They can sit in their bouncer or highchair, while you bake. Babies learn as they watch. You can talk them through the process, give them their own wooden spoon or spatula to play with, describe the sounds they hear, smell and taste. If they are ready for regular food let them sample some along the way if you like.
Don't forget to take pictures of each tradition so they can have something to pass down to generations to come.
If you have a favorite holiday tradition you would like to share with other parents, we would like to hear them!
