Activity Corner

The summer is at an end and school has started. If your child is shy or isn't excited about attending preschool, help your child by encouraging friendships among classmates. Start a class playgroup to help acquaint the children in your child's class/school. This will also allow you to get to know the other parents, too.
To do this, start a new playgroup and name it "(school name) Preschool Playgroup". Create and print out our Playgroup Invitation cards to pass out to the other parents that invites them to join you for a class play date after school or the day after school. You may also ask your child's teacher or administrator if you can post a bulletin or add your playgroup to the next schools newsletter.
Your child may enjoy having play dates with his or her classmates and will begin to look forward to seeing them at school. You can even suggest a surprise gift that the children can create for the teacher to show appreciation!

Reading Tips from Blue Lake Children's Publishing

|
Numerous studies confirm that children can and should learn many things about reading before they actually learn to read. This is often referred to as “getting ready to read”.
The Tessy & Tab Reading Club is designed to help children age 2-6 build the Six Skills for Early Literacy.
Look for one key early literacy skill in the next 6 newsletters and use the reading tips to help your preschooler learn to “love words early”. |
To learn more about The Tessy & Tab Reading Club visit www.tessyandtab.com. Playgroups USA members will receive two free issues along with your first issue. Please enter PGU-2FREE as your coupon code when you place your order.

Testimonials
 |
Before we have children, we often do not know our neighbors, or the opportunities offered in our community. At playgroup, we meet and make friends with local families, and share information about services. These friendships form strong community bonds, as families move through the stages of playgroup, preschool, and school.
